Tusculum 3rd, Catawba 12th in Latest Baseball Writers Poll
DALLAS - With a key weekend series looming between the two teams, Tusculum has been ranked No. 3 and Catawba No. 12 in the latest National College Baseball Writers Association poll, it was announced on Tuesday.
Tusculum received five first-place votes in this week's poll as well.
Both teams are currently 19-2 in the SAC and will face one another in a three-game series this Friday and Saturday in Greeneville, Tenn., that could determine the regular-season conference championship.
TC is 32-5 overall, while Catawba is 28-8 on the season. The Pioneers have won 11-straight SAC games, while the Indians had their 17-game league winning streak snapped last weekend by Carson-Newman.
Tusculum is ranked No. 1 in the NCBWA Southeast Region rankings, garnering eight of the 11 first-place votes, while Catawba is tied for second in the regional poll with Mount Olive.
