Catawba Sweeps AstroTurf Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week Honors

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played during March 18 through March 24. Catawba swept the offensive and defensive honors with Joe Barber and Kevin Geiger, respectively.

A senior midfielder, Barber had four goals, including both game-winners, alongside three assists as Catawba defeated two SAC foes. The Upper Marlboro, Md. native notched a hat trick in the upset over nationally-ranked Wingate and scored the winner with three minutes on the clock to complete the come-from-behind rally to top Lincoln Memorial. Barber also collected four ground balls and caused two turnovers. This is Barber's first Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.

A junior goalkeeper, Geiger helped Catawba to a pair of conference wins, including an upset of nationally-ranked Wingate. The Catawba Indians remain undefeated in SAC action and have won a school-record seven games in a row. The Flanders, N.J. native saved 54.3 percent of shots on goal with 25 saves over 120 minutes. This is Geiger's first Defensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
