Tusculum’s Winkelmann, Mills Named SAC Tennis Players of the Week
After impressive performances at last week's Spring Break Bash tournament in Hilton Head, S.C., Tusculum's Lukas Winkelmann and Erin Mills have been named the SAC Tennis Players of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – After impressive performances at last week's Spring Break Bash tournament in Hilton Head, S.C., Tusculum's Lukas Winkelmann and Erin Mills have been named the SAC Tennis Players of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
Winkelmann compiled a combined 6-0 record in singles and doubles play at the event as the Tusculum men went 3-0 as a team. Playing in the No. 1 singles position, Winkelmann notched wins over Gustavo Echeverria of Georgetown (Ky.), Matthew Sherba of Charleston and Will Golinkin of Dickinson.
In doubles play, the sophomore teamed with Nicolas Planchard at No. 1 to win matches against Georgetown's Ryne Leas and Jacob Loveland, Charleston's Samual Humphrey and Dennis Okoth, and Dickinson's Golinkin and Chris Mueller-Wolf. The TC tandem won the three matches by a combined score of 24-2.
Winkelmann is 8-1 in singles play and 6-3 in doubles contests so far this season.

Mills also went a perfect 6-0 in leading the Pioneer women to an unbeaten record at the tournament. She split time between No. 2 and No. 3 singles, picking up wins over Baldwin Wallace's Morgan Baker, Charleston's Malika Mali and West Liberty's Raissa Wischi – the Atlantic Region's ninth-ranked player.
Playing with teammate Taylor Patterson, Mills got wins in the No. 2 doubles position over Baldwin Wallace's Mackenzi and Morgan Baker, Charleston's Mali and Ana Maria Pena, and West Liberty's Zineb Houssaini and Alex Barr.
On the season, Mill is 7-3 in singles action and 8-3 in doubles.
