Lenoir-Rhyne's Hartman and Wingate's Holt Named SAC WePlayed Sports Women's Soccer Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Soccer Players of the Week for matches played during week six of the 2024 season. Lenoir-Rhyne's Ava Hartman was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Wingate's Laura Holt brought home Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Hartman, a freshman from Hickory, N.C. led No. 8 Lenoir-Rhyne to a win in its only action of the week. Hartman netted two goals in the Bears 3-1 victory over Coker on Saturday to record her first career brace. She fired five shots in the match, with three on frame and was credited with the game-winner. The win helped LR improve to 7-0-3 overall and 5-0-1 in league play this season.
Holt, a junior from Brande, Denmark, played 263 of 270 minutes last week, leading the Bulldogs to a 3-0 week with three SAC wins in six days and four in an eight-day span. Holt helped the 'Dogs post back-to-back shutouts against Mars Hill Monday and Newberry Wednesday, while also helping the Bulldogs cap a 3-0 week with the 3-2 win against Anderson. Holt also scored her first goal as a Bulldog in the 4-0 victory against Newberry.
