2012-13 Food Lion SAC Championships Outlook
Spanning seven cities in three states, the SAC will conduct 13 championship events in 2012-13, offering student-athletes and fans the unique experiences that only college athletics can provide.
Spanning seven cities in three states, the SAC will conduct 13 championship events in 2012-13, offering student-athletes and fans the unique experiences that only college athletics can provide.
In partnership with official corporate sponsor Food Lion, the 2012-13 SAC Championship schedule features five fall events, two in the winter and six in the spring.
The SAC upgraded its championship experience in 2011-12 by offering enhancements such as live web streaming and merchandise sales at select events. Similar amenities will be featured in 2012-13 as well.

Men's & Women's Cross Country (Oct. 20)
The SAC's first championship of the season will take place in Greeneville, Tenn., hosted by Tusculum College. The 2012 Food Lion SAC Cross Country Championship will feature all 10 member institutions competing for both team and individual titles.
The Mars Hill men and Anderson women won the 2011 SAC Championships.
Men's & Women's Soccer (Nov. 2 & 4)
The 2012 Food Lion SAC Soccer Championship will return to picturesque Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C. for the sixth year in a row. The complex is coming off playing host to the USA Youth Soccer National Championships this past July.
Four men's and four women's teams will advance to Rock Hill after campus-site quarterfinals. Anderson won the men's championship in 2011, while Wingate captured the women's title.
Volleyball (Nov. 16-18)
The 2012 Food Lion SAC Volleyball Championship makes its way to the campus of Brevard College this fall, where eight teams will fight for the conference title. It will mark the first time a SAC championship finals site is held at Brevard.
Wingate has won the past six SAC Volleyball Championships.
Men's & Women's Basketball (March 9-10)
The longest running host city of any SAC championship is Hickory, N.C., which will again serve as home to the Food Lion SAC Basketball Championship in 2013. After the completion of campus-site quarterfinals, the men's and women's semifinals and finals will be played at the Tarlton Complex on the campus of Catawba Valley Community College.
Wingate captured both the men's and women's championships in 2012.
Men's & Women's Golf (April 14-16)
The Food Lion SAC Golf Championship will have a new home in 2013, with the men and women competing at the Sevierville Golf Club in Sevierville, Tenn. All 10 SAC member schools will take part in the event.
The club features two 18-hole championship courses – "The Highlands" and "The River."
Wingate won the SAC men's championship in 2012, while Newberry won the women's event.
Men's & Women's Tennis (April 18-20)
For the seventh year in a row, the 2013 Food Lion SAC Tennis Championship will take place at the Rock Hill Tennis Center in Rock Hill, S.C. The facility is a member of the USTA and hosts a myriad of local and national events throughout the year.
Six teams will advance to Rock Hill in both the men's and women's championships. Wingate won both championships in 2012.
Softball (April 18-21)
Catawba College will play host to the 2013 Food Lion SAC Softball Championships, which brings together the top eight teams from the league's regular-season standings in a double-elimination bracket.
Lenoir-Rhyne will be seeking its third-straight SAC title.
Baseball (April 18-21)
McNair Field in Forest City, N.C. will host the 2013 Food Lion SAC Baseball Championship. It will mark the fourth-straight season the event is played in Forest City, which is also home to the Coastal Plain League's Forest City Owls.
Six teams will compete in the double-elimination tournament. Tusculum won the event in 2012.
