WePlayed Sports Players of the Week - Apr. 20
Men's Lacrosse
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference has announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played during week 11 of the 2026 season. Catawba's Tanner Stout was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Newberry's Ryan Morrison was named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Anderson's Aiden Dixon was named the Specialist of the Week.
Stout, a junior from Elon, N.C., racked up a career-high 10 points on six goals and four assists with five ground balls in Catawba's 26-4 win over Mars Hill on Saturday. The outburst put the junior attackman into second league-wide with 48 goals this season.
Morrison, a senior from Maryland anchored Newberry's defensive effort with a dominant performance in the Wolves' lone game of the week. Morrison caused eight turnovers and collected eight ground balls, consistently disrupting the opposition's offense and regaining possession for Newberry. In addition to his defensive impact, Morrison added a goal offensively.
Dixon, a junior from Forest Hill, Md., dominated the faceoff X for the Trojans in a 32-4 win over Emory & Henry. Dixon won 18 of 19 faceoffs on the day and grabbed 10 ground balls. He added two goals and an assist for the Trojans.

Women's Lacrosse
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference has announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played during week 11 of the 2026 season. Wingate swept the awards with Stacy Glover being named the Offensive Player of the Week and Sophie Pavlick earning the Defensive Player of the Week.
Glover, a freshman from Oviedo, Fla., piled up 13 points in 2 more wins for #16 Wingate last week, as the Bulldogs stayed perfect in SAC play to guarantee at least a share of the regular season SAC title. Glover tallied 11 goals in just 12 shots, adding a pair of assists on the week. Glover had 6 goals on 6 shots at Coker while adding 2 assists. She capped her week with 5 goals in 6 shots against LMU.
Pavlick, a sophomore from Duncan, S.C., had another dominant week at the draw control, piling up 24 on the week. Pavlick had 9 draw controls in the 24-1 win at Coker, adding a goal, while piling up 15 draw controls in the 22-4 LMU win, scoring another goal while breaking Wingate's single-season draw control record. Pavlick added another goal Saturday and ranks 7th in the nation in draw controls per game.

Men's Outdoor
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the fifth week of competition. Catawba's Victor Smith earned the track honor while Wingate's Mateo de Castro Navarro earned the field honor for the second straight week.
Smith, a senior sprinter from West Palm Beach, Fla., won the 100m dash at (NC A&T) Aggie Invitational, posting a time of 10.04 seconds, good for the second-fastest mark in DII and top 10 across all divisions.
Castro Navarro, a junior thrower from Valladolid, Spain, finished fourth in the highly-competitive, NCAA Division I-heavy WFU Invite shot put last week, thanks to his mark of 16.27 meters. He has the top mark in the SAC this season (16.66 meters, VertKlasse Meeting at HPU).

Women's Outdoor
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week for meets contested during the fifth week of competition. Tusculum's Kori Moore earned the track honor while Wingate's Amber Lawless earned the field honor.
Moore, a sophomore sprinter from Jonesboro, Ga., set two individual school records and was part of two record-setting relays at the Aggie Invitational this weekend. Moore ran 58.94 seconds in the 400 hurdles on Friday night to break the school record of 1:00.70. She then ran 13.48 seconds in the preliminaries of the 100 hurdles on Saturday to take down the previous mark of 13.49 seconds. Moore was also part of both Tusculum relays that set school records on Saturday. The 4x100 relay won with a time of 43.97 seconds, the fastest in Division II this season and better than the previous Tusculum mark of 44.24 seconds. In the 4x400 relay, the Pioneers ran 3:41.78 to easily shatter the mark of 3:46.40. Moore is currently ranked 4th nationally in the 100 hurdles, 6th in the 400 hurdles, 1st in the 4x100 and 9th in the 4x400.
Lawless, a senior thrower from Perth, Western, Australia, had a big week at the WFU Invite. In her signature shot put event, she finished sixth (14.57 meters). She competed in the discus throw as well, posting a mark of 43.14 meters. Lawless has the No. 1 shot put mark in the SAC this season (14.72 meters, Duke Invite) and the No. 1 discus throw as well (46.81 meters, VertKlasse Meeting).

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Mars Hill's Yeriel Pastrana was named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Baseball Player of the Week while UVA Wise's Ryan Whitson was named Pitcher of the Week for games played during week 11 of the 2026 season, the conference office announced today.
Pastrana, a junior outfielder from San Juan, Puerto Rico, led Mars Hill to a sweep of Emory & Henry and a program-record 18th conference win for the Lions. In the three game set, he went 8-for-11 (.727 average) and scored four runs while accounting for two doubles, a home run and nine runs driven in. He added a pair of stolen bases and got on base at a .750 clip.
Whitson, a graduate student from Alcoa, Tenn., entered in the ninth inning and threw eight innings and 130 pitches in relief in UVA Wise's win over 8-6 win over Anderson in 16 innings. It tied for the third longest game in SAC history but was the longest between two SAC teams. He gave up two runs off of four hits and struck out seven batters.

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Anderson's Carson Hobbs was named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Softball Player of the Week, while Mars Hill's Kamryn Akins was named Pitcher of the Week for games played during week ten of the 2026 season, the conference office announced today.
Hobbs, a senior from Nicholson, Ga., posted a .583 batting average after going 7-for-12 at bat with two doubles and two homers for a total of 10 RBI. In a 6-4 victory against Catawba, she went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. Against Coker, she went 4-for-6 with one double and a homer to bring in eight runs during the 10-6 and 19-2 doubleheader sweep. Hobbs is currently tied for first across all three NCAA Divisions with 20 doubles. The senior designated player is also leading the SAC with 60 RBI, 22 doubles and second with a .440 batting avg.
Akins, a junior from Union, S.C., tied the Mars Hill record single season wins with 15 as she added two more last week. She also tied a program record for single season shut outs in a victory over Lenoir-Rhyne where she went all seven innings and allowed just four hits, two walks and five strikeouts. In a win over Wingate, she allowed one run in her seven innings with four hits, two walks and seven strikeouts.
