Calano, a sophomore from Suwanee, Ga., has started in all 51 games for the Pioneers this season while earning All-South Atlantic Conference First Team honors. He is currently fourth on the team in hitting with a .343 batting average. He has recorded 10 doubles and triple and is third on the team in home runs with nine. His 54 RBI is second on the squad, not bad considering he has hit ninth in the order all season.

Calano advances to the Verizon Academic All-America ballot, which will be announced in June. The Verizon Academic All-District team is selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America from institutions within District IV, which includes the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee.
The Pioneers are currently 33-18 on the season and await their post-season fate with this week's announcement of the NCAA Division II Regional Tournament selections. TC, which is currently ranked fifth in the NCAA South Region, will close out the regular season on Monday when they travel to the University of Tennessee for a 7 p.m. contest against the Volunteers.
