Lenoir-Rhyne’s Taylor MacCurdy, Newberry’s Dale Bennett Named SAC Baseball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Lenoir-Rhyne shortstop Taylor MacCurdy and Newberry pitcher Dale Bennett have been named the South Atlantic Conference's Player and Pitcher of the Week, announced by league officials on Monday afternoon.
MacCurdy batted .579 for the week as the Bears won three of four games. The senior was 11-for-19 with two doubles and five RBIs and had two or more hits and runs scored in every game. The Charlotte, N.C. native went 3-for-5 and drove in three runs in a 10-6 victory over Presbyterian on Sunday.
Bennett appeared in all four games for the Indians last week,
picking up three wins in 3.1 innings pitched. The freshman from
Summerville, S.C. allowed just three hits and one earned run over
three games and picked up back-to-back victories in a SAC
doubleheader against Mars Hill.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors in the league.
