Lenoir-Rhyne’s Max Loveland, Lincoln Memorial University’s Josh Strawn Named Baseball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Lenoir-Rhyne University outfielder Max Loveland and Lincoln Memorial University hurler Josh Strawn have been named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week announced conference officials Tuesday. Both honorees are from Bradenton, Fla. and both played at Manatee Community College.
Loveland, a 6-3, 180-pound junior, batted .750 in leading Lenoir-Rhyne to a pair of wins. He went 6-for-8 at the plate, tallying three doubles and four RBI. In the Bears' 12-4 road win at Belmont Abbey, he went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, scored three runs and drove in three more. He also recorded three stolen bases. In L-R's 21-6 rout of St. Andrews, Loveland went 2-for-3 with a double, scored three times and tallied two stolen bases, giving him five on the week. He has helped paced L-R to a 13-4 record, including nine straight wins and a No. 8 national ranking.

Strawn, a 6-1 junior pitcher, tossed a four-hit shutout in LMU's 3-0 South Atlantic Conference win over Carson-Newman. In his seven innings of work, the Manatee CC transfer recorded 10 strikeouts and no walks to help pace the Railsplitters to a doubleheader sweep over the Eagles en route to taking two of three games in the weekend series.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
