Mars Hill’s Mike Dobre, Alex Britt Named Baseball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Mars Hill's Mike Dobre and Alex Britt have been named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week announced conference officials Monday.
Dobre, a 5-9, 175-pound senior catcher from Pompano Beach, Fla., batted .550 with a pair of doubles and a home run to lead the Lions to a 4-1 record on the week, all SAC games. In Mars Hill's three-game sweep over Newberry, Dobre went 8-for-13 (.615) with a pair of doubles and a stolen base. He went 3-for-5 in MHC's 8-7 win in the series opener and 3-for-4 in an 8-0 victory in game two.

Britt, a 6-1, 175-pound freshman from Salisbury, N.C., posted a pair of wins over Catawba and Newberry. He tossed 5.1 innings in the Lions' 6-3 win over the Indians. He scattered five hits, gave up three runs, a walk and posted a strikeout. In MHC's 7-2 win over Newberry, Britt pitched a nine-inning complete game as he allowed seven hits, two runs, walked two and struck out a pair. On the week, he posted a 3.14 earned run average in his 14.1 innings of work, including three strikeouts.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
