Wingate’s Mark Letchworth, Dusty White Named Baseball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Wingate's Mark Letchworth and Dusty White have been named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week announced conference officials Monday.
Letchworth, a senior outfielder from Greenville, N.C., hit .733 on the week, going 11-for-15 with two home runs, 12 RBI and nine runs scored as the Bulldogs went 3-1, including a SAC sweep over Brevard. The East Carolina University transfer has at least one extra-base hit and at least two RBI in all four games. He tallied a double and three RBI in game one of a twin-bill against West Virginia State. Letchworth followed that with a homer and two RBI in the second game. In game one against Brevard, he went 4-for-5 with four RBI and a homer. He followed that with a double and a triple to go along with three RBI and three runs scored in Wingate's 28-6 win over the Tornados.

White, a junior right hander from Charlotte, N.C., posted a 1-0 record and a 0.90 ERA in his two appearances during the week. He pitched 10 innings, scattering five hits with eight strikeouts. He allowed an earned run on three hits and struck out four in six relief innings of work against West Virginia State. White followed that by allowing only two hits in four innings in recording a victory against Brevard.
The SAC Players of the Week are determined by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
