Catawba’s Ryan Query, Wingate’s Tyler Almond Named Baseball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Catawba catcher Ryan Query and Wingate pitcher Tyler Almond were named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Position Player and Pitcher of the Week announced league officials Monday.
Query, a 5-10, 180-pound senior from Kannapolis, N.C., led Catawba to a 4-1 week, including a three-game SAC sweep over Lenoir-Rhyne. Query hit .409 and collected 14 RBI during the week. In Catawba's 15-14 win over No. 11 Erskine, he went 3-for-5 with three RBI, scored two runs, and hit a homer in the win. In the weekend SAC series, Query went 6-for-13 with 11 RBI. He keyed the sweep with a pair of three-run homers in Sunday's 10-7 victory. He clubbed three home runs on the week.

Almond, a 6-0, 170-pound right-hander from Oakboro, N.C., pitched seven shut-out innings in Wingate's 14-0 win at Lincoln Memorial. He scattered four hits, walked one and posted four strikeouts in the victory as the Bulldogs took two of three games this weekend against the Railsplitters.
The SAC Players of the Week are determined by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
