Mars Hill’s Brittian, Anderson’s Sanderson Named Baseball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Mars Hill College's Michael Brittian has been named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week and Anderson University's Erick Sanderson earned league Pitcher of the Week honors for the week ending March 20, announced conference officials Monday.
Brittian, a senior outfielder from Asheville, N.C. (Enka HS), hit .455 last week with six RBI, scored six runs, had four doubles and a home run. He had a .773 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .520. In the three-game weekend series against Brevard, he was 8-for-12 (.667) with four RBI and four runs scored.
Sanderson, a sophomore pitcher and first baseman from Hanahan, S.C., scattered seven hits over seven innings to help lead the Trojans to a 3-2 win in the nightcap of a doubleheader sweep past league-leading Catawba Saturday afternoon. The 6-foot-4 right-handed hurler improved to 4-3 on the season with his team-high third complete game. Sanderson surrendered just two runs and walked one batter, while fanning six Indians' hitters and did not allow a runner to reach second base until the final inning. Sanderson leads the team with his four wins and 30 strikeouts on the season.
