LMU’s Fuqua, Carson-Newman’s Thigpen Earn Weekly SAC Baseball Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Lincoln Memorial infielder Curt Fuqua and Carson-Newman pitcher Robbyy Thigpen have been named the SAC baseball weekly award winners, it was announced on Tuesday. Fuqua was selected as the SAC Player of the Week, while Thigpen earned the conference's Pitcher of the Week honor.
Fuqua led LMU to a 5-1 week, including a series win at conference-foe Mars Hill. The junior hit .467 on the week, going seven-of-15 from the plate in addition to drawing five walks.
Fuqua's best game of the week came in game one of a double-header against Bryan, where he went 2-for-2 with two doubles, two walks and five RBI.
In total, Fuqua recorded three doubles, six RBI, eight runs and a stolen base on the week.

Thigpen fired a complete-game in his only appearance for
Carson-Newman last week, earning a win over Brevard. The
right-hander gave up just three runs in the outing, striking out
seven and walking none.
Thigpen leads the Eagles this season with three wins and is second on the team with 19 strikeouts.
