Wingate’s McPherson, Catawba’s Jankowski Named SAC Baseball Weekly Award Winners
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Wingate outfielder Dodson McPherson has been named the SAC Baseball Player of the Week, while Catawba pitcher JJ Jankowski earned the league's Pitcher of the Week Award, it was announced on Monday.
McPherson led Wingate to a perfect 5-0 week by hitting .381 with three extra-base hits - including two home runs.
The 2011 SAC Player of the Year had a three-hit game against UNC Pembroke, and went 2-for-5 with a home run and three RBI in the Bulldogs' series-opening win over Newberry.
On the week, McPherson also recorded three stolen bases and two walks.

Jankowski made two appearances for Catawba last week, earning a win
and a save.
After closing out the Indians' 4-3 win over Stillman on Tuesday, Jankowski was electric in a 15-2 win over Anderson on Friday, throwing eight innings, allowing just one earned run while striking out 16.
The strikeout total was just two shy of the all-time Catawba record.
On the season, the McMurray, Pa., native is 5-0 with 64 strikeouts in just 41 innings.
