C-N’s Koeneman, Catawba’s Lomascolo Selected as SAC Baseball Weekly Award Winners
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Carson-Newman first baseman Kyle Koeneman and Catawba pitcher Nick Lomascolo were key in helping their teams remain in the top three of the SAC baseball standings last week, and on Monday earned the conference's weekly awards.
Koeneman, the SAC Player of the Week, hit .438 as the Eagles went 4-1 last week. The senior hit three home runs - including a game-winning two-run shot against North Georgia in the ninth inning and a game-tying blast in the ninth inning of a game versus Mars Hill that C-N went on to win in 11 innings.
Koeneman's week also included seven walks, seven runs and 10 RBI. Over the five games, he had an on-base percentage of .609.

Lomascolo, the SAC Pitcher of the Week, kept Catawba atop the
league standings by throwing seven shutout innings against Brevard
on Saturday in a 1-0 Indian victory.
Lomascolo was nearly untouchable, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out seven. The outing lowered the junior's ERA to 3.48, and he now has 43 strikeouts in 44 innings this season.
