Mars Hill’s Pate, Wingate’s Currie Garner SAC Baseball Weekly Awards
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill's Coty Pate accumulated a .652 batting average last week and Wingate's Ben Currie threw a one-run complete game in his only start to earn the SAC Baseball weekly awards, which were announced on Monday.
Pate, the SAC Player of the Week, had a huge week for Mars Hill, racking up 15 hits, 12 RBI and 11 runs in the Lions' five games. The senior infielder also slugged six home runs - including a pair of multi-homer games against Tusculum and North Greenville - and tallied four doubles.
He was just as dominant in the field, converting all 44 putout attempts and five assists at first base.

Currie earned SAC Pitcher of the Week honors after going the
distance in Wingate's 8-1 victory over Anderson on Friday. In
addition to allowing the single run, Currie allowed just four hits
and one walk while striking out two.
Only one of the hits went for extra bases.
Currie was extremely efficient in the outing, needing just 92 pitches to complete the game.
