Tusculum Claims Top Spot in NCAA Baseball Regional Rankings; Catawba No. 5
INDIANAPOLIS - The final NCAA Division II Baseball Southeast Region rankings before championship selections were announced on Wednesday, with Tusculum taking over the No. 1 spot in the poll. Catawba was also ranked No. 5, moving up one spot from last week.
NCAA Division II Baseball Championship selections will be announced on a live ncaa.com selection show on Sunday at 10 p.m.
Tusculum finished the season with a record of 46-8, winning both the SAC regular season and tournament championships. TC's 46 wins are a school record and tied for the third-most in conference history.
Catawba, meanwhile, went 39-14 during the regular season, finishing just a game back of Tusculum in the final SAC standings at 23-4.
Six teams from the Southeast Region will earn bids to the NCAA Championship, including automatic qualification bids from the SAC, Conference Carolinas and the Peach Belt.
Tusculum and Conference Carolina's Mount Olive have already secured two of the AQs.
