ROCK HILL, S.C. – Carson-Newman catcher Kevin Franchetti and Tusculum starting pitcher Adam Sigmon have been named the SAC Baseball Players of the Week after helping guide their teams to weekend conference series victories, it was announced on Tuesday.
Franchetti led Carson-Newman to a weekend sweep of Lenoir-Rhyne by hitting .417 with five extra-base hits.
After getting just one hit combined in a Wednesday non-conference loss to Young Harris and Friday's series-opener with L-R, Franchetti caught fire against the Bears during Saturday's double-header. He opened the day by going 3-for-3 with a double and two home runs in an 8-2 Carson-Newman win, then hit another double in the Eagles' 4-3 victory in the second game.
Franchetti totaled six RBI and four runs scored during the week, finishing with an on-base percentage of .462 and a slugging percentage of 1.250.

Sigmon, meanwhile, threw a complete-game shutout against Lincoln Memorial on Saturday, allowing just two hits in the 3-0 Tusculum win.
In what was the first shutout and fourth complete game of his career, Sigmon struck out seven LMU hitters, eclipsing the 100-strikeout mark for his career.
The victory led TC to a 2-1 series win over LMU. After starting 0-3 in the SAC, the Pioneers have won five of their past six conference games.
