LMU Earns No. 6 Seed for NCAA Baseball Southeast Regional

INDIANAPOLIS -- Lincoln Memorial nabbed the No. 6 seed for the 2013 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship Southeast Regional, it was announced via a live selection show on Sunday evening.
The NCAA Division II Southeast Regional is a six-team, double elimination tournament with the winner advancing to Cary, N.C. for the NCAA Division II Baseball World Series. The Railsplitters open play in the Southeast Regional on Thursday at 7 p.m. on Thursday against top-seeded Mount Olive.
The Railsplitters earned their first bid to the NCAA tournament on April 21st by capping an historic run to winning the 2013 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Championship with a 9-4 triumph over Carson-Newman. The win over the Eagles put the finishes touches on a day that saw Lincoln Memorial play three games, opening with an 8-3 loss to Carson-Newman before winning a pair of elimination games on Sunday to grab the SAC's automatic bid to regional play. All told, Lincoln Memorial rides into the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional boasting a 26-24 mark with wins in four of their last five appearances on the diamond.
Mount Olive earned hosting duties for the Southeast Regional after compiling a 46-6 mark through the end of the Conference Carolinas tournament. The Trojans were ranked seventh in the most recent NCBWA national poll. The Trojans are hosting the Southeast Regional event for the third-consecutive season and the fifth time in the last seven.
Prior to the Railsplitters and Trojans' opening round contest, No. 3 Armstrong (31-15) and No. 4 Coker (34-14) are set to square off at 11 a.m. at Scarborough Field. At 3 p.m., No. 2 USC Aiken (41-11) faces No. 5 Georgia College (33-17).
