L-R’s Vieitez, Catawba’s Brooks Earn Final SAC Baseball Weekly Awards
Lenoir-Rhyne outfielder Ivan Vieitez and Catawba pitcher Craig Brooks have been selected as the final SAC Baseball Players of the Week for the 2014 season.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Lenoir-Rhyne outfielder Ivan Vieitez and Catawba pitcher Craig Brooks have been selected as the final SAC Baseball Players of the Week for the 2014 season.

Vieitez earns SAC Player of the Week honors for the second-straight week after hitting .750 and slugging 1.625 in Lenoir-Rhyne's final three games of the season.
After drawing three walks on Wednesday in a 4-2 Bears win over Montreat, Vieitez combined to go 6-of-7 at the plate with two doubles, a triple, a home run and four RBI in a pair of games with Pfeiffer over the weekend. He also drew three more walks in the Pfeiffer series, finishing the week with a .857 on-base percentage.
Vieitez completed the regular season as the SAC's batting average leader at .451.
SAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week | Craig Brooks, Catawba
Brooks made his final appearance of the regular season on Friday against Carson-Newman, throwing seven shutout innings while striking out nine in a 6-0 Catawba win over Carson-Newman. The victory clinched a share of the SAC title for the Indians.
Brooks' outing improved his record to 9-0 against conference opponents this season, and marked his 10th-straight winning decision overall. He allowed just four hits while upping his league-leading strikeout total to 86.
