ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference earned its first-ever National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Daktronics National Player of the Year honors as Catawba's Will Albertson earned the awards, the organizations announced today.
Albertson, a junior from Sophia, N.C., currently ranks No. 1 in the nation with 107 hits, 204 total bases and a .473 average at the plate. His 90 RBI currently has him at No. 2 in the country, while his 26 home runs are good for No. 3 in Division II. Albertson is also ranked No. 5 in the nation with a .903 slugging percentage.
Albertson was named the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year to go along with Southeast Region Player of the Year plaudits.
