The South Atlantic Conference Announces Baseball Players of the Week, March 8

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Coker's Jack Leech was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Vince Apicella was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 29-March 6, the League announced today.

Leech, a junior from Miami, Fla., notched eight hits, four RBI and a .667 average at the plate to lead the Cobras to a series win at Anderson over the weekend.  He notched a hit in all three contests and highlighted his weekend with five hits, two doubles and three RBI in a 16-14 win over the Trojans on March 5.  He finished the three-game span with four doubles to close the series out with a 1.000 slugging percentage.  The honor is his first Player of the Week honor this season.

Apicella, a senior from Dillsburg, Pa., notched 11 strikeouts in a complete-game win over Brevard on March 4.  He scattered five hits in the contest and allowed just one earned run and one walk.  The honor is his second Pitcher of the Week plaudit this season.
