The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week, Mar. 20
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Tusculum's Nick Lacina and Bryson Conner from Coker were tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Co-Players of the Week, while Forrest Arnold of Coker was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played March 13-19, the League announced today.
Lacina, a senior from St. Paul, Minn., batted .444 with two home runs, four hits and six RBI to lead the Pioneers to a series sweep of Brevard last week. He scored seven runs for the Pioneers and finished the series with a pair of doubles. Lacina finished the three-game span with a slugging percentage of 1.333 and an on base clip of .583 to help Tusculum extent its winning streak to seven-straight games. The honor is his first Player of the Week selection this season.
Conner, a junior from North Augusta, S.C., hit .500 and posted six RBI to push Coker to a 2-1 series win over Lenoir-Rhyne last week. He added a double and home run in the series as he finished the week with four total hits. Connor reached base in 67 percent of his plate appearances and slugged 1.000 against the Bears. The award is his first Player of the Week nod this season.
Arnold, a senior from West Columbia, S.C., tossed a complete game shutout against Lenoir-Rhyne on March 18. He struck out seven Bear hitters and scattered five hits in his nine innings of work. The honor marks his first Pitcher of the Week plaudit this season.
