The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors
Wingate infielder Tyler Schneider has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Player of the Week and Carson-Newman right-handed pitcher Dillon Cate has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 12-18, the League announced today.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate infielder Tyler Schneider has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Player of the Week and Carson-Newman right-handed pitcher Dillon Cate has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 12-18, the League announced today.
Schneider, a junior from Richland, Ind., led the Bulldogs to a 3-1 record last week, while batting .533 with three doubles, a home run, seven runs scored and nine RBI. He reached base in 14 of his 21 plate appearances for a .667 on-base percentage and had a slugging percentage of .933.
Cate, a senior from Sevierville, Tenn., had a dominating performance on the mound for the Eagles in their 5-0 win over No. 11 Northwood. He threw seven and a third innings, allowing no runs and no hits with 15 strikeouts and six walks in the win.
These are the first Player of the Week selections for both Schneider and Cate this season.
