The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week Awards
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lincoln Memorial outfielder Seth Hunt was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Player of the Week, while Tusculum right-handed pitcher Charles Hall was named AstroTurf Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played March 4 through March 10, the Conference office announced today.
Hunt, a senior from Knoxville, Tenn., had a phenomenal week at the plate as he led the Railsplitters to a 3-0 record; including a SAC series win over Carson-Newman. He batted .467 for the week, belting three-home runs, with 11 RBIs and three runs scored. All three of his home runs and seven RBIs came in game one of LMU's series with Carson-Newman, making him the first Railsplitter to ever hit three homers in a single game.
Hall, a senior from Dumfries, Va., recorded his fifth consecutive double digit strikeout game in an 11-7 SAC win over Mars Hill last week. He fanned 13 batters, allowing three earned runs on six hits in six and two-thirds innings while picking up the win on the mound for the Pioneers. He now leads all of NCAA Division II with 66 strikeouts.
This is Hunt's first Player of the Week honor this season, while this the first Pitcher of the Week for Hall.
