The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week Awards

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Newberry outfielder Danton Hyman was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Player of the Week, while Lincoln Memorial left-handed pitcher Ethan Elliott was named AstroTurf Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played April 8 through April 14, the Conference office announced today.

Hyman, a senior from Prosperity, S.C., led the Wolves to a 3-1 record last week, including a three-game sweep of SAC foe and nationally ranked No. 15 Catawba. The team's catalyst in the field and at the plate, Hyman batted .333 with a triple, a double and three RBIs. In addition to his hitting, he picked up a pair of outfield assists in back-to-back innings in Friday's 4-2 win over Catawba.

Elliott, a senior from Knoxville, Tenn., turned in a spectacular pitching performance for the Railsplitters in their 5-0 win over Tusculum last week. The lefty went the distance, allowing just four hits in nine innings with no runs and 16 strikeouts.

This is Hyman's second Player of the Week honor this season, while this the second Pitcher of the Week honor for Elliott.
