The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's David Bell was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Player of the Week, while Lenoir-Rhyne's Joshua Lanham was named AstroTurf Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played during week five of the 2022 season, the Conference office announced today.
Bell, a sophomore outfielder from Kings Mountain, N.C., led the Bears to a 4-0 week, including a three-game sweep of Coker. He finished the week with a .500 batting average, belting three doubles and a home run, while driving in seven runs, scoring seven runs, and stealing a base. He had a .571 on-base percentage and a 1.000 slugging percentage for the week, and had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, including an outfield assist.
Lanham, a sophomore right-hander from Augusta, Ga., earned his fourth win of the season in a dominant performance against Coker. He threw seven innings of shutout baseball, allowing just four hits while issuing just one walk with 10 strikeouts.
