The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week Awards

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – UVA Wise's Tyler Campbell was named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Baseball Player of the Week, while Catawba's Greg Brown was named AstroTurf Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played during week eight of the 2022 season, the Conference office announced today. 

Campbell, a senior first baseman from East Bend, N.C., led the Highland Cavaliers to a 5-1 record last week, including a series sweep of Salem. He was a run-producing machine as he drove in 15 runs and scored nine runs, while belting five home runs and two doubles. Campbell finished the week with a .417 batting average, a .500 on-base percentage, and a 1.125 slugging percentage.

Brown, a senior right-handed pitcher from Lexington, N.C., held the No. 15 Lenoir-Rhyne Bears to just three hits and one run in a 10-inning pitching duel, in which Catawba picked up the 2-1 win. Brown went the distance in the win, going all 10 innings allowing just one run on three hits with 10 strikeouts.
