Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne Earn Bids to NCAA Southeast Regional
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The NCAA Division II Baseball Committee announced its field of 56 teams that will participate in the 2022 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship on Sunday (May 15). Wingate and Lenoir-Rhyne will represent the South Atlantic Conference in the double-elimination tournament, which will be held at eight regional sites May 19-21.
Defending NCAA Division II National Champion Wingate earned the No. 2 seed, and the 2022 SAC Baseball Tournament Champion Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne earned the No. 4 seed.
Joining the Bulldogs and Bears are North Greenville at No. 1, Columbus State at No. 3, UNC Pembroke at No. 5, Belmont Abbey at No. 6, and Young Harris at No. 7.
The Southeast Regional Tournament will be played at two sites, North Greenville University and Wingate University. The Bulldogs will host Columbus State, Young Harris, and Belmont Abbey, while North Greenville will play host to Lenoir-Rhyne and UNC Pembroke.
The winning teams will advance to the NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional on May 27-28, with the winners of the eight super regionals advancing to the finals of the 2022 NCAA DII Baseball Championship, which will take place at the USA Baseball National Training Center in Cary, N.C., June 4-11.
