Lenoir-Rhyne's McPeak and Wingate's Farris Named South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Tyler McPeak was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Baseball Player of the Week, while Wingate's Mitch Farris was named Varsity Gems Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played during week seven of the 2023 season, the Conference office announced today.

McPeak, a graduate student first baseman from Denver, N.C., collected multiple hits in four of five games last week, while batting .600 with three home runs, a double, a triple, and five runs scored. He drove in 11 runs, with a slugging percentage of 1.400 and an on-base percentage of .632, while collecting 21 total bases on the week.

Farris, a junior left-hander from Palm Harbor, Fla., earned his third consecutive Varsity Gems Pitcher of the Week honor after allowing just one run on three hits in a complete game victory over No. 7 Lenoir-Rhyne last week. He went all nine innings piling up 13 strikeouts with two walks.
