Wingate's Farris Named NCBWA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week

Wingate, N.C.---- Erskine College sophomore Dale Francis, Jr. has been named the Southeast Region Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), officials announced Tuesday afternoon. Wingate University redshirt junior left-hander Mitch Farris is the NCBWA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week.
 
Francis finished Erskine's four games last week hitting .667 (10-for-15) with 13 RBI and eight runs scored. He had two four-hit games in addition to seven extra-base hits with four home runs and three doubles. Francis owned a 1.667 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .737. In Erskine's 21-9 game one win over Barton, Francis finished the game going four-for-five with eight RBI and four runs scored. He had three home runs in the contest.

Farris earned his third consecutive Varsity Gems Pitcher of the Week honor after allowing just one run on three hits in a complete game victory over No. 7 Lenoir-Rhyne last week. He went all nine innings piling up 13 strikeouts with two walks. After allowing a run in the second, he allowed just an infield single in the eighth and ninth innings against the Bears to hand LR its first SAC loss of the year.
