Emory & Henry's Greene and Wingate's Farris Named South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Emory & Henry's Jermie Greene Jr. was named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Baseball Player of the Week, while Wingate's Mitch Farris was named Varsity Gems Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played during week ten of the 2023 season, the Conference office announced today.

Greene, a senior outfielder from Troutman, N.C., batted .625 over four games last week with two or more hits in each game including two doubles, a triple, and four home runs. He drove in 10 runs and scored seven runs, finishing the week with a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.625 slugging percentage. 

Farris, a junior left-hander from Palm Harbor, Fla., posted a complete-game shutout victory against No. 5 Newberry last week. Farris took a no-hitter into the ninth inning, finishing the game with no runs, two hits, and 10 strikeouts. The win improved him to 9-1 on the year with a 1.25 ERA and 109 strikeouts in 72 innings of work.
