Emory & Henry’s Greene, Wingate’s Farris Earn NCBWA Southeast Region Weekly Honors

Wingate, N.C.---- Emory & Henry College senior infielder/outfielder Jermie Greene, Jr. has been named the Southeast Region Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), officials announced Tuesday afternoon. Wingate University redshirt junior left-hander Mitch Farris is the NCBWA Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week.
 
Greene hit .625 over four games last week with two or more hits in each game including two doubles, a triple, and four home runs. He drove in 10 runs and scored seven runs, finishing the week with a .667 on-base percentage and a 1.625 slugging percentage. 

Farris turned in another dominant outing last week, tossing a complete-game two-hit shutout in a 5-0 win at #5 Newberry. Farris struck out 10 without walking a batter, taking a no-hitter into the ninth inning against the league's top offense. He allowed just a pair of singles on the night, picking up his ninth win of the year. Farris retired eight in a row to start the game, then after an error in the third and hit batter in the fourth retired 11 straight until a leadoff single in the ninth broke up the no-hit bid.
