ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Newberry's Jomar Lugo was named the 2023 South Atlantic Conference Baseball Wealth Enhancement Group Elite 23 Award winner, the Conference office announced Sunday (May 7).  

This award honors the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade-point average (based on a minimum of 48 credit hours) in each of the league's 23 team championship sports.

Lugo, a sophomore from San Sebastian, Puerto Rico, has a 3.84 grade point average while studying business.
