Catawba's Hunter and Lincoln Memorial's Edds Named South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Catawba's Sam Hunter was named the South Atlantic Conference WePlayed Sports Baseball Player of the Week, while Lincoln Memorial's Eli Edds was named WePlayed Sports Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played during week one of the 2024 season, the Conference office announced today.
Hunter, a sophomore outfielder from St. Petersburg, Fla., led the Catawba Indians to a 2-1 record to start the season, batting .538 with a double, three runs scored, eight RBIs, and five stolen bases. He went 4-for-5 in Catawba's season-opening win over Palm Beach Atlantic (16-3) diving in six of the Catawba Indians' 16 runs.
Edds, a freshman right-handed pitcher from Maynardville, Tenn., picked up the win for the Railsplitters in their 5-1 victory over Cedarville to open the year. Edds was lights out in five innings of work, allowing just one run on three hits with nine strikeouts.
