South Atlantic Conference Announces Change of Venue for Baseball Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced a change of venue for the 2024 Baseball Championship. Due to a recent scheduling conflict with Smokies Stadium, the championship will now take place at McCrary Park in Asheboro, home of the Asheboro Zookeepers.
McCrary Park has hosted baseball games since 1948. Over the last several years, the facility has seen extensive improvement projects such as: installation of state-of-the-art synthetic infield surface, construction of new dugouts and an expansion of the press box. In recent years, McCrary Park hosted the National Junior College Region X tournament as well as both the Coastal Plain League Petitt Cup championship tournament and the CPL All-Star Game.
The Championship Series will still take place on May 10-11 and be a best-of-three format as it was last year. The Opening Round will be played on May 3-5 with the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds hosting. The two teams that move on from the opening weekend will meet in Asheboro. The games will be broadcast on FloSports and tickets will be available online.
