Wingate and Catawba Earn 1-Run Wins in Elimination Games
Bulldogs Knock Out #3 North Greenville on Day Two of NCAA Regionals
Tigerville, S.C.----In a matchup featuring two of the last three national champions, the sixth-seeded Wingate University Bulldogs held off second-seeded and third-ranked North Greenville University 11-10 on day two of the NCAA Southeast Regional baseball tournament. The Bulldogs improve to 34-24 overall, while the Crusaders end their season at 41-14. Wingate will be back in action Saturday in Tigerville, playing in another elimination game at 12 p.m.
Late Rally Sends Catawba Past UNC Pembroke
Salisbury, N.C. -- Down one run in the eighth inning of an elimination game, the Catawba Baseball Team rallied for a pair and closed out a 5-4 win over UNC Pembroke on Friday night. The Indians and Braves now each have one loss in the regional. Catawba will meet the winner of Young Harris and UNCP in another elimination game tomorrow at 3:45.
