Carson-Newman's Floyd Named SAC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman's Logan Floyd has been named the South Atlantic Conference Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the Conference office announced today.
A junior business administration major with a perfect 4.0 GPA, Floyd has excelled both in the classroom and on the diamond throughout his career with the Eagles.
Floyd became the first Carson-Newman baseball player since Derek Long to earn all-conference honors in three consecutive seasons after putting together a career year in 2026. The junior first baseman hit .410 with 10 home runs and 56 RBI while posting the third-highest batting average in Carson-Newman's Division II era. He also totaled 25 multi-hit games and 18 multi-RBI performances during the season.
Over the course of his career, Floyd has earned All-SAC First Team, Second Team and Third Team honors while also collecting All-SAC Defensive Team accolades.
In the classroom, Floyd has been named to the Dean's List and earned Platinum Eagle Scholar recognition during his time at Carson-Newman.
Away from baseball and academics, Floyd has also been active in the community. He has volunteered at a food pantry in Jefferson City, Tennessee, participated in Boys and Girls Club Halloween activities and helped care for shelter dogs until they found permanent homes.
The SAC Scholar-Athlete Award is presented annually to one student-athlete in each conference-sponsored sport who demonstrates excellence in athletics, academics, leadership and service.
