Wingate’s Cody Moore Earns D2Football.com Honorable Mention Honors

Wingate, N.C.----Wingate University redshirt freshman defensive back Cody Moore (Gastonia, N.C.) has been named an honorable mention D2Football.com defensive "player of the week," the website announced on Monday.

Moore had a career-high 15 tackles (11 solo, four assists) in a 35-14 SAC home loss to number 10 Catawba College Saturday afternoon at Irwin Belk Stadium and John R. Martin Field. Moore had two tackles for losses.

The Wingate defensive secondary held the Indians 57 yards below their season average for passing yardage. Catawba entered the game averaging 242.8 yards per game passing. Moore and his secondary mates allowed only 185 yards passing.

On the season, Moore is tied for sixth on the team in tackles with 28 total stops (18 solo, 10 assists). Moore shares the team lead in interceptions (two).
