ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The South Atlantic Conference Football
Players of the Week have been announced for the week ending October
3, 2010. Catawba College wide receiver Brandon Bunn was named
Offensive Player of the Week, while Mars Hill College linebacker
Josh Baker was named Defensive Player of the Week, and Wingate
University defensive back Timmy Rogers was named Special Teams
Player of the Week.

SAC Offensive Player Of The Week
Brandon Bunn, Catawba College
Sr., WR, Virginia Beach, VA (VMI)
Brandon Bunn had a record-setting day in the win at Wingate as
he set school marks for touchdown catches in a game (4) and career
(27) as well as receiving yards in a game (247). He broke the
yardage record (of 215 set in 1968) with a 46-yard catch on a
3rd-and-11 with just over two minutes to play. He started his big
afternoon with a 74-yard touchdown catch on the game's first play.
He also caught a 52-yard deflected pass on the final play of the
first half that gave Catawba a 28-7 lead at the half. He finished
the day with 10 total catches.

SAC Defensive Player Of The Week
Josh Baker, Mars Hill College

Josh Baker led Mars Hill to a 45-39 win over No. 13 Tusculum
Saturday. He was responsible for two scores even though he played
on the defensive side of the ball. Baker recovered a fumble that
ricocheted off a Pioneer player at the visitor's 44 yard line. Two
plays later the Lions scored to lead 21-6 in the first quarter.
Then in the fourth quarter, Baker returned an interception 44 yards
to give Mars Hill a 45-26 advantage with 10:04 left in regulation
that sealed the win. For the day he recorded seven tackles, a
tackle-for-loss, a fumble recovery and an interception.

SAC Special Teams Player Of The Week
Timmy Rogers, Wingate University

Wingate freshman defensive back Timmy Rogers had a big day for
the Bulldogs in a tough 35-28 SAC loss to Catawba Saturday. Rogers
returned a blocked punt 18 yards for a TD with 3:13 to play in the
third quarter. Rogers set up the next Wingate score with his own
blocked punt. The play gave the Bulldogs the ball on the Catawba
36-yard line with 6:50 to play in the fourth quarter. Six plays
later, redshirt junior quarterback Cody Haffly found sophomore wide
receiver Chris Bowden with a 27-yard scoring strike to pull the
hosts within a touchdown. On the afternoon, Rogers had 99
all-purpose yards, one blocked punt return for a TD and one blocked
punt (that led to a TD) for the Bulldogs. He also contributed six
tackles (three solo, three assists) to Wingate's defensive
efforts.
