ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The South Atlantic Conference Football
Players of the Week have been announced for the week ending October
10, 2010. Newberry College wide receiver Brandon Bostick and
quarterback Bryan Ehrlich were named Offensive Players of the Week,
while Mars Hill College linebacker Rudy Cabral was named Defensive
Player of the Week, and Mars Hill linebacker Josh Baker was named
Special Teams Player of the Week.

SAC Offensive Players Of The Week
Brandon Bostick, Newberry College
Jr., WR, Florence, S.C. (West Florence HS)
Newberry College junior wide receiver Brandon Bostick
established a new South Atlantic Conference record for receiving
yards in a game, catching 11 passes for a 322 yards and three
touchdowns (37, 71 and 50 yards). He averaged 29.3 yards per
completion, with nine of his 11 completions resulting in Newberry
first downs. The performance ranks eighth in the history of
Division II football, just one yard behind the seventh place game.
The performance also marks the most receiving yards in a game by a
collegiate player in the state of South Carolina, beating the
previous record of 275 yards set by Presbyterian's D.J. Humphries
against Tusculum in 2001.
Bryan Ehrlich, Newberry College

Bryan Ehrlich set the South Atlantic Conference records for
passing touchdowns and touchdown responsibility while setting a
school record for passing yardage in the Wovles' 63-56 win over No.
23 Tusculum. He went 23-of-40 for 515 yards and seven touchdowns of
37, 71, 36, 36, 2, 50 and 11 yards. He also recorded a 1-yard
touchdown rush, making him responsible for eight total touchdowns.
His 515-yard performance breaks the previous Newberry record of 448
yards set by Eric McCollom at Tusculum in 2008 and is the
second-best single game in the history of the state of South
Carolina behind Presbyterian's Todd Cunningham, who set a SAC
record with 542 yards against Tusculum in 2001. Ehrlich averaged
22.4 yards per completion.

SAC Defensive Player Of The Week
Rudy Cabral, Mars Hill College

Rudy Cabral led the Lions' defense with a career-high 19 total
tackles, whick included a career-high 15 solo tackles. He added 2.5
sacks and helped MHC hold the Bears to 351 total yards. His
performances has helped lead the Lions to a 2-0 SAC record so far
this season. He wins the award for the second time this season.

SAC Special Teams Player Of The Week
Josh Baker, Mars Hill College
Sr., LB, Skyland, N.C. (Butler C.C.)
Josh Baker returned a blocked punt 12 yards for a touchdown to
tie the game at 17-all with 2:25 left in the first half. The
special teams score proved to be crucial as the Lions won 24-20 to
remain unbeatan in league play. He added seven tackles including
six solo from his linebacker position. Baker was the SAC Defensive
Player of the Week last week.
