NORTHBROOK, Ill. – Carson-Newman senior Curt Duncan and Tusculum graduate student Bo Cordell have been named to the 2013 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, which recognizes the off-the-field contributions of a select number of football student-athletes throughout each level of the NCAA and the NAIA.
In total, 22 student-athletes from across the country were named to the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The honorees were selected from a record 150 nominations. The team was voted on by a panel which includes media and former Allstate AFCA Good Works Team members
Duncan, a kicker for currently 11th-ranked Carson-Newman, was named a BSN and Capital One Academic All-American in 2012. He was also a member of the All-SAC First Team.
The Morristown, Tenn., native is studying English.
Cordell is one of the most prolific passers in Division II football history. He has already broken the all-time SAC records for passing yards and total yards, and is currently sixth in the Division II record book for career passing yards. He also became Division II's all-time leader in completions last weekend in Tusculum's win over Elizabeth City St.
Cordell, who is working towards a master's degree in human resource development, was a participant at July's SAC Student-Athlete Leadership Conference.
