The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Football Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Football Players of the Week for games played during the fourth week of the 2021 season.  UVA Wise quarterback Lendon Redwine was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, while UVA Wise defensive back Markel Dailey was named the Defensive Player of the Week, and Wingate kicker McLean Robertson picked up Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Redwine, a sophomore from Gate City, Va., led the Cavaliers to a 35-28 win over No. 16 Lenoir-Rhyne last week. He connected on 28 of 46 passes (60.9 percent) throwing for 299 yards with two touchdowns in the win. He also rushed for 15 yards to finish the game with 314 yards of offense for UVA Wise.

Dailey, a freshman from Birmingham, Ala., was instrumental in the Cavaliers 35-28 win over No. 16 Lenoir-Rhyne. He picked off two passes and had six solo tackles and a pass breakup. His final interception of the day sealed stopped the final Lenoir-Rhyne offensive push and sealed the victory for UVA Wise. Dailey leads both the SAC and NCAA Division II in interceptions this season with five.

Robertson, a senior from Lexington, S.C., led the No. 10 Bulldogs to a 43-35 win over Tusculum last week. He was perfect a perfect 3-for-3 in field goal attempts and was 4-for-4 in extra-point attempts, accounting for 13 of the Bulldogs' 43 points. Included in his three field goals were a 49-yarder and the game-winning kick with under two minutes left to play.
