The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Football Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Football Players of the Week for games played during the sixth week of the 2021 season.  Newberry quarterback Dre Harris was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Lenoir-Rhyne defensive tackle Amari Houston was named the Defensive Player of the Week, and Lenoir-Rhyne kicker Chase Allbaugh picked up Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Harris, a senior from Greenville, S.C., led the Wolves to a 37-14 win over UVA Wise last week. He was responsible for all five of Newberry's touchdowns as he threw for four touchdowns and rushed for one. He finished the day going 14-for-23 (60.9 percent) for 264 yards and four touchdowns in the air, while rushing for 25 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Houston, a senior from Fountain Inn, S.C., led the Bears to a 38-31 win over Tusculum last week. He had a career-high 11 tackles in the game, including eight solo tackles and a sack for a loss of 12 yards. He finished the game with 1.5 tackles for loss.

Allbaugh, a senior from Tallahassee, Fla., set a new NCAA Division II record for most consecutive extra points in the Bears' 38-31 win over Tusculum. Allbaugh connected on five extra points, giving him 132 consecutive kicks without a miss. The previous NCAA Division II mark was set by Kutztown's Jack Ruggieri was 127.
