The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf Football Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its AstroTurf Football Players of the Week for games played during the final week of the 2021 season.  Tusculum quarterback Tre Simmons was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Tusculum defensive lineman Widchard Guervil was named the Defensive Player of the Week, and Tusculum return man Tyler Burke picked up Special Teams Player of the Week honors. 

Simmons, a freshman from Temple Terrace, Fla., led the Pioneers to a 48-13 win over Carson-Newman as he accounted for four touchdowns and racked up 394 total yards of offense. He threw for 362 yards and three touchdowns, completing 22 of 35 passes. He also rushed for 32 yards and a touchdown.

Guervil, a senior from Fort Myers, Fla., recorded three tackles for loss, including two sacks resulting in forced fumbles in Tusculum's win over Carson-Newman. He finished the game with five total tackles and was part of a Pioneer defensive unit that forced four Eagle turnovers resulting in 20 points. 

Burke, a freshman from Delray Beach, Fla., returned a kickoff for 100-yards and a touchdown in the Pioneers win over Carson-Newman. In addition to his kickoff return, he hauled in six passes for 58 yards.
