The South Atlantic Conference Announces Football Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its Football Players of the Week for games played during the third week of the 2022 season.  Barton quarterback Jaquan Lynch was tabbed as the Offensive Player of the Week, while Wingate defensive end Marquise Fleming was named the Defensive Player of the Week, and Wingate kicker Ethan Evans picked up Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Lynch, a sophomore from Rocky Mount, N.C., led the Bulldogs to their first SAC victory of the season, a 40-20 win over UVA Wise. He accounted for three touchdowns, two on the ground and one in the air. He finished the game with a team-high 146 yards rushing, averaging 11.2 yards per carry, along with 61 yards passing.

Fleming, a sophomore from Charlotte, N.C., was a force on defense for the Bulldogs in their 27-10 SAC win over Tusculum last week. He accounted for nine total tackles, including seven solo tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, and three tackles for a loss of 22 yards. Wingate set a school record as a defensive unit with 12 total sacks in the game.

Evans, a senior from Mt. Airy, N.C., picked up his second consecutive Special Teams Player of the Week honor after accounting for nine of Wingate's 27 points last week. He was two-for-three on field goals including a 40-yard field goal and he was a perfect three-for-three on extra points. Evans also had six punts for 306 yards, with four of those punts landing inside the 20-yard line.
