(TheSAC.com) – Newberry delivered a dominant postseason performance on Saturday, earning a 4–1 win over Bentley in the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Tournament quarterfinals at Setzler Field. The No. 1 seed Wolves improved to 19–0 and advanced to next weekend's national semifinals, where they will face West Chester in Bloomsburg, Pa. Game time will be announced by the NCAA.
Game Summary
Newberry controlled the match from start to finish, outshooting Bentley 23–5, putting 15 shots on goal, holding a 9–5 advantage in penalty corners and converting one of two penalty shots. After a scoreless first quarter, Parker Keeler opened the scoring at 19:07 with her 19th goal of the season. Wibien Dahmen added a second goal less than four minutes later off an assist from Lieke Varenkamp, giving the Wolves a 2–0 halftime lead. Freshman Amber Tozana extended the margin early in the third with her 10th goal of the year, and Payton Keeler made it 4–0 with a penalty-shot goal at 41:50.
