Newberry’s Staff Named NFHCA Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The Newberry College field hockey coaching staff of Hannah Dave, Khotsofalo Pheko, and Tasmin Bangert has been named the 2025 NFHCA Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year, the National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced this week.
The staff led Newberry to a historic season, securing the SAC regular-season and tournament championships, earning the No. 1 national seed, and guiding the Wolves to their first NCAA Tournament final appearance. Newberry finished the year 20-1, including a dominant 10-0 mark in SAC play.
The Wolves were one of the most productive teams in Division II, and the coaching staff's impact showed across every phase:
-
11 shutouts
-
Nation-leading winning percentage (0.952)
-
Nation-leading scoring margin (4.20) and goals per game (5.00)
-
No. 2 nationally in goals-against average (0.76) and shutouts
Their postseason run closed with a national runner-up finish after pushing the NCAA championship game into overtime.
The recognition reflects the collective work of Newberry's coaching group, whose leadership, preparation, and player development elevated the program to new heights on both the conference and national stages.
The NFHCA Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year will be announced Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the NFHCA Hall of Fame Awards Dinner during the 2026 NFHCA Annual Convention.
