Wingate’s Justin Baker Named Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Wingate's Justin Baker was named South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.
Baker, a senior guard from Lumberton, North Carolina, averaged 27.5 points, eight rebounds and 2.5 assists in leading Wingate to victories over Lenoir-Rhyne (81-67) and Carson-Newman (122-116) last Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.
The Lumberton High School graduate scored 23 points with five
three-pointers in the victory over the Bears at home before
tallying a double-double (a season-high 32 points and 10 rebounds)
in the win on the road against the Eagles.
Baker, who won the weekly award for the second time this year and for the third time in his career, also shot 61 percent (22-of-36) from the floor and 67 percent (eight-of-12) from behind the three-point line this week as well.
The SAC Men's Basketball Player Of The Week is voted on by the league's sports information directors.
